Queer People of Color Organization - QPOC
  • QPOC is meeting Wednesdays at 6pm at the LGBTRC (245 Costo Hall) in Fall '09. Everyone is welcome.
  • QPOC is a student-run group separate from the staff-facilitated Tuesday Rap Group also called QPOC.
  • QPOC's mission: "The establishment of Queer People of Color Organization entails the struggle against racism and prejudices prevalent in the Queer community. We are committed to activism - we are committed to recognizing the intersections of our identities as well as the various intersections of social justice movements. We ensure inclusiveness by creating space for Queers of Color: socially, politically and environmentally."
  • QPOC was established in Fall 2007.
Queer Alliance - QA
  • QA meetings are every other Monday at 6pm at the LGBTRC (245 Costo Hall) for Fall '09. Everyone is welcome.
  • For 2009-2010, QA will be meeting to assist with the funding and resources for specific projects, rather than holding general meetings. Look for separate planning committees for events like The Coming Out Monologues, Dragalicious Drag Ball, and Pride Prom.
  • QA focuses on outreach to high school youth, including visits to area Gay Straight Alliances and special events like Pride Prom
  • QA sponsors the annual Dragalicious Drag Bag and The Coming Out Monologues.
  • QA, the longest-running LGBT-focused student organization at UCR, was established in the 1980s as the Lesbian and Gay Student Union
Queer Conference Committee - QCC
Historical Student Groups
  • DOWNEtime, established in 2004, brought together Asian Pacific Islander students for mutual support and discussions regarding sexual orientation and gender identity.
  • Students for the Equality of Queers (SEQs), established in 2003, organized the first UCR National Day of Silence observance and submitted the original proposal for Stonewall Hall.
  • Que onda Queers (QoQ), established in 1999, brought together LGBT Chicano/a students and their friends.
