Lambda Awards

The Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of LGBTs honors individuals, campus organizations or departments meeting the criteria below.

Honorees are recognized at the Lambda Celebration in June and at the Student Affairs Awards Ceremony. Honorees' names are placed on a perpetual plaque housed at the LGBT Resource Center.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD
: Acknowledging outstanding leadership in the LGBT community by a currently enrolled UCR undergraduate student.

GRADUATE STUDENT SERVICE AWARD
: Honoring outstanding contributions made to the campus LGBT community by a currently enrolled UCR graduate student.

CHARLES WEIS SERVICE AWARD
: Named for the former director of the UCR Counseling Center, the Charles Weis Service Award honors outstanding contributions made to the campus community by a current UCR staff or faculty member on behalf of LGBT people.

STEVEN SHUM ACTIVISM AWARD
: Named for the first director of the UCR LGBT Resource Center, the Steven Shum Activism Award acknowledges on- or off-campus activism which contributes to the civil rights of the LGBT community. This awardee can be a member of either the on- or off-campus community.

OUTSTANDING ALLY AWARD: Honoring and acknowledging contributions made to the LGBT community by a current UCR Ally. This honor may be given to an individual, a department, or an organization.

FIRST YEAR MEMBER OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP: Presented by Queer Alliance, this award acknowledges the outstanding contributions of a first year Queer Alliance member.
